The global financial crisis of 2008 left many individuals with debts that they are unable to manage; known as over-indebtedness.
Visiting academic Dr Filipa de Almeida (University of Lisbon, Portugal) will give a research presentation on 'The health and wellbeing of over-indebted consumers' on Thursday, 12 December, from 1pm to 2pm.
This presentation is hosted by the New Zealand Institute for Business Research (NZIBR) in partnership with Waikato Management School. All staff, students and members of the public are welcome to attend. Please register your attendance in advance.
Dr de Almeida has a PhD in social cognition and her research focuses on the effects of power in person perception, and the consequences of artificial intelligence in the workplace on human behaviour.
In this study, she looks at how well individuals who sought the help of the Portuguese Consumer Defense Association (DECO) deal with their over-indebted situation compared to non-over-indebted consumers, and the effects on their health and wellbeing.
Dr de Almeida's work has been published in national and international academic journals. She teaches at CLSBE in the Executive Master in Management, the M.Sc. in Management, and economics and business administration at undergraduate level.
