About this seminar:
Ecosystems are comprised of thousands of direct and indirect partners and rivals whose interactions influence the behaviour, capabilities, and ultimately performance of individual firms.
This truism is clear to all, and yet, we still struggle to explain how collaborative relations affect competitive relations and vice versa. Put as a question, can the structure of today's ecosystems predict which firms will become partners and which will become rivals tomorrow?
By analysing data from 9,675 firms over a 13-year period, Gideon and his co-authors unearthed several conditions that reveal when firms will become friends and which will become foes. These conditions are important because they predict which indirect partners and rivals today could become direct allies and competitors tomorrow.
