There is increasing evidence that climate change will severely challenge us in the years to come. Dr Chris Eames will explore the climate change issues we face and the different types of responses that we are making, including the Emissions Trading Scheme and the School Climate Strikes. Education can empower people to meet this challenge but is this response able to help us address one of the biggest challenges in human history?
Chris is an Associate Professor in Environmental and Sustainability Education and has taught at the University of Waikato for over 30 years. He holds a Masters of Science degree and a PhD in science education from Waikato. Chris is a former Chair of the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education, a participant in a number of environmental restoration groups, a Principal Investigator in government research contracts totalling over a million dollars, and a supervisor of many research students. Chris is currently involved in a range of advocacy and research initiatives in climate change education.
