Moodle Modules

Moodle is an online platform that allows you to access papers, contact lecturers, find due dates and submit assignments. It is important that you become familiar with how to use Moodle as it will be the main system you use while studying at Waikato. Checking Moodle regularly will mean you don't miss out on important information and updates throughout the trimester. To login to Moodle, go to elearn.waikato.ac.nz and use your university username and password to sign in.

Academic Divisions Orientation

After the morning's introductory sessions, head to your Academic Division Orientation.

This session will outline everything you need to know to get started in your academic area. Meet staff and fellow students while learning more about your timetable, degree, and where to go if you need help. While you're here, there will also be an opportunity to meet members of the Study Advising team.

What should you do when the weather is cold and miserable? If you answered stand outside by a lake you may already be on the path to academic exellence. Come join the WSU as we give out free toasties and corn fritters to anyone walking by.  We may even have music playing, but we make no guarantees.

Postgraduate students orientation

In this session we welcome all new post-graduate level students to join us for an orientation uniquely designed to go over what is available to you. Meet staff from across the university, talk to some current students and take the opportunity to hang out with other students starting their post-graduate journey with you. We'll give you some afternoon tea while you're here, families are welcome.

12th - 16th July WSU Re-O'Week

The second week of orientation will be hosted by the Waikato Students’ Union and will include all current students as well as new. There will be activities, competitions and prizes up for grabs. Check out the WSU Facebook page for more information.

  • Re-O'Week 2021 - Get in our Basement this Re-O'Week for your chance to win an Xbox, a Nintendo Switch, Coffee Machine, UE Megaboom, a gym membership, TVs, and so much more. Every day you'll have the chance to answer the question 'Wanna Get a Bag?' and win a bunch of prizes.  

    There will also be free kai everyday as the WSU launch our brand new Union Kitchen and start our free War on Sausages!
  • Re-O'Week Kick Ons 2021 - Most of the time the kick ons are better than the actual party. This time however it's just a few nights in the WSU Basement as you come down from a week in town.

    So give your liver and bank balance a break and get to The Basement for a movie night, comedy evening, and the return of the Red Bull quiz night. There will be food from the Union Kitchen and there will be prizes but most importantly, there will be no need to stay out past 10pm.
  • Intro to Adulthood - Who would've thought being an adult could be so hard? We did. So, all week we'll be sharing our endless bounty of knowledge with you from budgeting to tenancy
