Work on challenging front-page social issues!

The Ministry of Social Development is the lead agency for the social sector. We help the Government to set priorities across the sector, coordinate the actions of other social sector agencies and track changes in the social well-being of New Zealanders. The Ministry provides policy advice and delivers social services and assistance to children and young people, working age people, older people, and families, whānau and communities. We work directly with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social well-being.

Throughout the 12-month development programme, you will:

  • Have two, six-month placements in different policy teams
  • Receive ongoing training and support, and grow your networks by working across the Ministry and wider government
  • Provide policy advice to Ministers and senior colleagues on a range of issues
  • Be a part of a supportive group of graduates all starting out their public sector career

For more information, come and join us at our virtual presentation on Wednesday 22nd July at 1pm.

Applications are open from Monday 13th July – Sunday 9th August, visit to apply!
