Each year, Mercury runs a work experience programme for undergrad / tertiary level engineering and science students over the summer vacation period, from November to February - based at our Hamilton, Rotorua and Taupo offices.

This is aimed to give you, as a Summer Intern, the ultimate experience across a wide variety of engineering projects.  You will be working in our offices and on-site at our geothermal, hydro and solar power stations with a range of other graduates and experienced engineers.

Applications will open in July for high achieving, enthusiastic individuals who will embrace this opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. We will have positions available in the following disciplines Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Process Engineering, Environmental Science and Geoscience.

Successful applicants will have the following characteristics:

•An interest in electricity generation

•Currently studying a Science (Geo/Environmental),  or NZQA Engineering degree

•Strong analytical and problem solving skills

•The passion, drive and enthusiasm to get stuck in and make a real difference

•A full and clean New Zealand drivers licence
