Our freshwater environments are under increasing pressure, from watertakes and pollution from numerous sources. At this year's Koroneihana, Kiingi Tuheitia reaffirmed the importance of wai māori and Te Mana o te Wai. This presentation will provide an overview of Te Mana o te Wai, the intrinsic connection

| TE REO MĀORI | Te Mana o Te Reo Māori | Te Ururoa Flavell will provide the vision, background and enactment of Te Ture mō Te Reo Māori 2016 (The Māori Language Act 2016) as Minister of Māori Development at that time. The Act lead to the establishment of Te Mātāwai whose purpose is to help kāinga (homes), hapori (communities) and iwi pursue their own Māori language aspirations. Te Whare Wānanaga o Waikato has delivered Te Hononga ā Kiwa (THK) on behalf of the three Centres of Asia Pacific Excellence regions - South East Asia, North Asia & Latin America since 2018. As the only programme targeted at a national level for Māori Business specifically, THK brings Māori Business
and Māori tertiary students together with experts in customs and language, with indigenous knowledge at the forefront. Moreover the Alumni programme Ngā Hononga ā Kiwa supports and provides further exposure and opportunities for students. | REO RUA | Rangiriri Pā | Rangiriri Pā was an ignition point for the invasion of the Waikato in 1863. The land was later confiscated as part of the 1.2 million acres and lost by Waikato Māori. In 2016, Rangiriri was returned to Waikato and redeveloped as a tribally signifcant site.
