Abstract:
Wales and New Zealand share similar environmental pressures and policy challenges, such as mitigating climate emissions and governing natural hazards. Historically, the mobility of ideas and people between each country played an important role in shaping their landscapes, policies and practices. However, in an era of increased virtual connectivity and reduced global mobility, how can knowledge exchange between similar, but distant countries, be conducted effectively? This project aims to answer this by understanding the nature of policy mobility between Wales and NZ, and facilitating the exchange of environmental policy, practice and research. This seminar will provide initial findings from a joint research project exploring the impacts of the mobility of policy and practice between Wales and NZ, the effective mechanisms for policy and practice innovation, and the shared evidence needs of environmental policy makers in each country.
Biographical Information:
Professor Enticott is a human geographer with research specialisms on the mobility of agricultural governance, practices and expertise between NZ and Wales.
Professor White’s research focuses on land use planning, climate change and natural hazards, and environmental policy and governance.
