Responding to Family Violence: Current Practice and Next Steps

In this lecture, Apriel Jolliffe Simpson of Te Puna Haumaru - New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science at the University of Waikato will provide an overview of the problem of family violence in Aotearoa New Zealand and describe her research understanding responses to family violence. Attendees will gain knowledge about the risk assessment instruments that family violence practitioners use to guide their decision making, and the need for better prevention strategies to reduce family violence-related harm in our communities.

Apriel is a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology and Crime Science. Her research focuses on decision making in the context of crime, using approaches from forensic psychology, crime science, and quantitative criminology.
