Event: Bach Seminar Day
Date: Saturday 05 May 2012
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Dr John Gallagher Concert Chamber, Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts
University of Waikato Research Associate Bryan Sayer presents this not-to-be-missed seminar-masterclass on Bach repertoire for the piano.
Bach's music is the foundation for pianists and indeed all musicians; there is much to be learnt about these great works, even if the composer died more than 250 years ago. Sayer will address elements of harmony, melody, counterpoint, structure, dance and spirituality in Bach's music through discussions of style, character, analysis (particularly fugal), articulation, ornamentation and pedalling.
This day is open to players from the community who can offer Bach works such as the Inventions, Suite movements, Preludes and Fugues.
Applications for this class should be made to: music@waikato.ac.nz
Participants $50, Audience $15
