The Juniper Passion is a multi-media work by University of Waikato lecturer and composer Michael Williams and librettist John Davies. It features some of New Zealand's leading voices and musicians.
The opera tells the story of a New Zealand soldier, German officer and Benedictine Monk, set in the Battle of Monte Cassino, Italy in 1944. Historical input has come from noted New Zealand historian and Waikato Distinguished Alumnus Dr Christopher Pugsley and represents truly universal themes of humanity.
This Opera has been produced and recorded by Atoll Records and will be the labels 100th recording.
