The Wallace Corporation University of Waikato Blues (Blues) are held in October each year, and is one of the University of Waikato's strongest traditions, dating back to 1971. With the tradition of the "cultural" blue joining the sporting blue in 1990.

The "Blue" is a prestigious award for excellence in sport or creative and performing arts. Blues Awards recognise national excellence through to world champions.
